Prefabricated buildings use a range of methods and now a peak industry body is seeking input on how to improve regulation in the space.
FOR many years, local business Jan Juc – Torquay Chiropractic and Sports Clinic has taken on work placement in The Gordon’s remedial massage students.
Gordon students like Sarah and Sienna had practical work placement with Pete Smith and his team in the second half of their year-long diploma at The Gordon.

They had completed hours of practical sessions in the simulated clinic at The Gordon and had a sound knowledge of anatomy and physiology before they attend work placement.
“We are learning so much and being able to, but what we have learnt into practice here with Pete and his team has really cemented what we are learning in class. With so much of the course dedicated to the hands-on, practical application of our learning, I am confident my massage skills and ability to respond to a client’s issues continue to grow as my course draws to an end.”
Making solid local connections has been really beneficial for students, especially during COVID when they could not attend classes onsite at TAFE.

Pete said that students, like Siena, brought great energy to the clinic and he was confident they will be well on their way to being excellent remedial therapists at the end of the course.
Home Care Massage Therapy
The Diploma of Remedial Massage course allows students such as Sienna and Sarah to become members of massage associations and receive their provider numbers.
This will enable them to practice as remedial therapists and allow clients to use their health care funds to claim a rebate.Massage Therapists are trained to manipulate the soft tissue of the body to treat pain, discomfort, injuries, stress or other conditions of their clients. Massage Therapists may specialise in particular form of massage therapy, such remedial, sports, relaxation and pregnancy massage.
The minimum qualification required to become a Massage Therapist in Australia is a Certificate IV in Massage Therapy (HLT42015). Some employers may prefer candidates with a higher qualification.
